Inti-Illimani (1967) is a name composed of the Quecha inti and of the Aymara Illimani and means sun of the Illimani (the beautiful Nevada Bolivano).
In 2017, this renowned Chilean group has fulfilled over 50 years of uninterrupted artistic trajectory. Their anniversary was celebrated with a tour of Chile and two spectacular concerts at the Teatro Caupolican in Santiago in August of the same year. The ensemble, which was formed by a group of young students who attended the Technical University of Santiago, Chile, arises within the movement called "The new Chilean song" that develops between 1965 and 1973. Since 1973, they resided in Europe, specifically in Italy. Since the 1980s, their career has accumulated success after success, reaching the top of the Italian charts and achieving multiple Gold and Platinum records. Inti-Illimani has sold millions of records worldwide, with performances and concerts in more than 58 countries, with worldwide recognition and virtuoso performances of more than 30 instruments of wind, percussion and strings.
